PARISH VOLUNTEER DAY

An Appreciation

This weekend we wish to place the emphasis on what goes on all year round through the good work of so many of our parishioners. We hope to reflect this in the Liturgy at the masses on Sat & Sun.
This will be followed up in the Parochial Hall on Sunday evening from 6.30 pm onwards. The Pastoral Council and Fr Dolan invite all who are involved in any activity to please come along; those interested in getting involved in some way in the parish are also welcome. All the various activities are significant to the life of the parish.

This evening session will give an opportunity for discussion and with it there will be some hospitality. Hopefully the day will demonstrate how each person and their contribution is appreciated. It should also leave us with plenty to reflect upon as we develop our parish in the years ahead.

The Sacred Heart Messenger.
The magazine costs £12.00 for the year ahead and should be paid as
soon as possible.

We appeal to those young people who throw snowballs at cars to have regard for safety and welfare. We also note that there has been disturbance around the Manse and annoyance caused to Rev Sloane. Such behaviour is deplored and we appeal for it to cease.

The Baptism of Christ

First Reading :
The glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all people shall see it.

Second Reading: Acts of the Apostles 10: 34-38
God’s grace has been revealed and taught us that what we have to do is to give up everything that does not lead to God.

Gospel: Luke 3: 15-16.21-22
John declared, I baptise you with water, but someone is coming, someone who is more powerful than I am will baptise you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
