The Body and Blood of Christ

Sunday, 6th June 2010

“They all ate as much as they wanted, and when the scraps remaining were collected they filled twelve baskets.” The miracle of the five loaves and two fish distributed among so many people is given to us as a symbol of the greatest gift and miracle of all, the Eucharist. As God’s people we are so privileged to be fed with the Body and Blood of Christ week after week, so much so that we can even take it for granted. We have a responsibility to keep the wonder of this gift alive in us. We also have the responsibility to live this miracle through our love for one another in our homes and communities. Through the power of Christ there was more left over after thousands of people had been fed than when they started. That is what the same Jesus wants to happen among us today as a result of the Eucharist we celebrate.

Fr. Johnny Doherty, C.Ss.R.

ROMANIA CALLING - Clear out the Loft!

July 3rd, 7 Lower Sixth students from St Mary’s College Clady will be travelling to Romania. This year we are trying to fill a 40 ft truck and need your help. So get spring cleaning and send us—children’s clothes—(infant to 18), unwanted toys, buggies,
bedding, educational or sports gear etc. We need to fill truck by mid June. It will all be put to good use either in orphanages or in very, very poor communities. Big items can be collected or any of our pupils will be happy to carry a bag to school.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.

Dear Lord, help me approach my exams with a clear head and a calm mind. Give me your strength and your peace and let me do justice to all that I have learned. Thank you Lord,
for all my talents and gifts.
Amen
